New Year Eve Shoe

Where is your map? It depends on your destination.

Dinner Party. A pump in red or black. A black strap and metal. A sweet t strap. Then we are off for a wonderful meal. A three or four inch will do. I would keep the outfit in the basic box.

Then we are off. Date night. So date night, a silver sequin, a pink sparking, or a satin black dress. The basic little black dress. Or a moment from Victoria Secret meets jeans or a satin skirt.

The Club. The club goes from boot to heel. The heel can be high,high if your feet can handle it. Leather pieces meets satin. A crisp shirt goes well with basic black pants. Hair up, metallic lid with neutral lip, you can ride for a little adventure.

Family night. From downtown to in home, fashion should not be sacrificed for the stroller. So a printed snake skin flat, texture metallic low heel, or a great basic boot. Denim, dark with a great expression t shirt with a little gloss. A little sweet knee length dress in a basic hue is another way to go.

Comfy. From pj to nothing,it is in the eyes of beholder. Strappy heel, open toe mule, or a very high pump. Then we are off to hang out for this special night.

So from the Movie to the Club, step into the next year in style.

The Holiday Sweather

Holiday sweather time. From solid, conservative to interesting,creative,hence, the holiday sweather. If you must continue this tradition,continue reading.
Holiday colors. Red is the norm. It normally comes in a thick material with a tradional neckline. A red sweather is typically paired with a pair of jeans,slacks,or khaki. The other colors of the season is green,blue,pink,and plaid. So from tree cutting to carol singing, a solid color sweat her can carry you throughout the season.
The sweather dress. A good sweather dress is great basic piece which carried you the whole winter season. It goes from day to night with a few changes. At the office,a cream colored sweather is a great with a pair of basic pumps in holiday colors. After hours, a knee length boot is a must. On the weekend,a pair leggings stretches your fashion closet.
The holi-day sweather. Does it light up? Will it sing? So, in other words, this sweather has a lot of fashion views. The sparkle sweather is great a basic piece such as a suede skirt,day to night,accessories and hair,changes it for you. A black sweater,not in a norm color, with slacks,skirt,or over a basic dress,it is a great thing to hang in the closet. So Santa is coming to town according to your sweather. For kid party,theme event, or holiday morning,these are the times to have a little fun and wear the singing sweather.
So here we go,it's December.  A sweather is needed. A little thought is needed for the right look.

Holiday Fashions

Yesterday at home to celebrate the Soul Train Awards I wore an oversize silk animal print shirt. A unusual print for December holiday fashion but still looked festive. Festive is the key word for the holiday closet.
The holidays sweather. A simple one for the office, an off shoulder one for the after hours. Simplicity is the key. Pair this fashion piece with jeans or simple skirt, you are off for the day. It is great to do the day to evening switch. A pair of slacks by day,a silk skirt for the night, your day keeps moving in a few minutes.
The holiday dress. The little black dress is standard. It will take you to multiple functions. Retro always look like a party. Pulling the retro styles from the 1950s or 1960s is always timeless. A touch of color can be holiday colors of red or green, or you can explore ethnic patterns,white, or pink.
The formal night. The formal holiday dress with all of the bells and whistles is not a necessity. A great A line skirt takes you miles. A crispy white shirt for an evening event. A metallic piece for a ball. Shoe and accessory changes also take this A line holiday moment far.
So the animal print blouse with the red skirt can be done. It is a fun time of the year.

Formal Fall Wear

There are many formal fall moments this upcoming season from community service to great entertainment moments. You can double fill up the calendar with these fashion moments. It is the end of the year. People want to socialize and let the year go.
So, the colors. I like red, bronze, brown, and gold. I like fabrics in heavy silk in a knee length or floor length. They are great options in department stores such as Macy's or JCPenny's. A red tea length dress with quarter length sleeves are great with a pair of pumps and a bracelet.
Then everything is golden. The money discussion of the stock market as we hope things get better have seeped in the fashion game. So little gold shift like dress with colored shoes. A cool pony tail complete your look.
White. The old school rule was white was out after labor day. They have not done that rule  in a while. I do white in winter and summer. A crisp white shirt with a smart formal silk skirt is very mature. This look is great for many things you may do from music to networking. A white dress in silk, the best you can buy with a touch of color on the feet and silk jacket is another way to mix it up.
Informal. Fall is an informal season when we think of pumpkin picking. So dark jeans and silk shirt with a great pair of silk pumps can carry you through from the museum artist opening with the right accessories to a great party in town. The casual dress in the office with a touch the right sequin jacket especially if it is a black dress is another way to go from day to night in a second.  The dress pants with crisp white shirt with hair down and a silk or strappy heel can carry you well.
So, from printed tights to light leather in bronze colors, there are many options to get the formal fall look.

Jeaan Time

Jeans are the basic unit of fashion. You are lucky because you can dress it up or down. There are too many places to buy a pair of jeans.
What is your number? Your size and shape are taken into consideration for a great pair of jeans. So if you are short, you may want to get a bootleg cut or just keep it simple. A person who is longer and length may want something that rises a little bit over their stomach. A larger size woman, a basic shape, a great quality jean is the key. The tricks do not always work to hide size. You might as well flaunt it.
So for daytime life, there are several looks. A jeans, a white shirt, and a blazer. You are out of the door. It is that simple. The shoe is key by taking this lunch for 8 a.m. to 7 p.m. dinner. You change the shoe from the leather pump to a pop of color satin.. Accessories also changes the look from daytime to evening.
Club Ready. Dark colors always. So a dark pair of jeans with sequin t shirt with a metallic pair of strappy heals or solid colored boots, then we are ready to party. A pair of shorts with a halter shirt with strappy platform heels is also another way to explore jeans and night life.
Welcome to business world. Casual Friday is popular all over the world. It is a great day to let the power fashion moments go. So, we are in jeans with a crisp collar shirt with a great leather heel.
Tasteful understated accessories gives a great more approachable look. One charm necklace or bracelet. A great hair cut, you are ready to close out the week.
Exploration.  I always love it. For a teen, you can explore throughout the week. For a working adult, night life and the weekend. We rip the jeans with a off shoulder crop top with high heel sneakers. A light weight summer leather shirt with jeans and leather sneakers. Short shorts with halter shirts, you can take that outfit and pair it with the highest heels.
So, jeans are so basic but it is just like some food culinary. You can make it classic or spicy. It is all up to you.

The Body Chain

This weekend I decided to wear a basic body chain. The package looked like a spider web like design with a thick of gold design in the center. When I opened the packet, it did not work out. It seem like two or three chains to create this intricate design. I was not going back to store. So I just decided to be creative.
Casual Friday. A tank top like shirt with cut off shorts. Then we off to run around with the body chain hanging its basic design with the thick gold part hanging in the front. I put my hair up and had a great Friday.
Say Amen, It is Saturday. A one shoulder animal print dress did not work with the fun body chain concept. So instead, I made a metal scrave I thought made the look more balance and gave me a regal touch by tucking in the chain in the front of the dress.Then I left the rest to hang in the back.
The queen is in the church. It is a joke, kind of. Later that I date, I wore a white strapless lace top with short and made the chain like straps coming out the fabric.
Sunday, we relax day. We relax in a peaches and cream lace top with shorts. Yes, I wore sparkling shoes. The body chain was made into a choker. The body chain was wrapped around my neck. Then  I hook one part of it to the front of the chain. An innocent but creative look.
There are many ways to get this done. A one piece bathing suit with a chain. A tight fitting short dress is another quick look. A basic black shift dress can be another way to use a body chain.
It is the body chain. A fun weekend with a fun accessory.

Shades

It is indeed summertime here in Georgia. It is over 90 degrees. Shade time. So, the rules are not very complicated about how to get a great shade look.
So, first face shape. Your face defines what shade you purchase. Most, shade stores or online places have a shade guide. For example, a cat shape shade is not for me but an aviator is always wonderful for a casual to a club look. So, from round to square, try a pair on for the best fit.
The casual day. The casual day is just a great fashion shade which is a rounded shade in same shape.
It is great for khaki pants or jeans with basic t shirt. I am just sitting here in the park with a book look
in a great dress. Normally, they are the basic black or brown with dark tint.
For night town or a fun look, it is the entertainment shade. So it is my favorite shade which is the tinted aviator shade. It is a great for dark jeans and a fun t shirt with high heel shoe. A fun but funky A line dress with summer peak toe boots is another fashion approach. A square is another shade which is lightly tinted which come in mostly brown and black. It is a great day time look with a plaid skirt or shorts.  At night in black in some form but with a great high heel shoe.
Pool time. It depends. For day light hours, a casual rounded shade as much as your face allows. The cat retro shade is a great look for those who can pull it off. Then there is colors of red or pink , maybe even blue. This is the time to play around with color. The aviator inspired gold frame shade is always ready for more formal time.
Where to buy? Online from overstock to a great mall is some options. I even found a great pair, no joke at the dollar store. For a really expensive shade, renting is an option and you can use it.

The Little White Dress

Summertime, it is a lot of opportunities for a great social occasion. From a small theatre group to a sip and see at a great museum, there is too much to do in most cities. The little white dress, a term mostly used when a bride wanted a simple white dress instead a formal gown, is the way to go.
Theatre. It is theatre. There is a simple shift white dress with a red silk heel. A simple gold or silver necklace. A simple adornment is the way to go. A more fun play, you could play around with a pink or even a poka dot fabric shoe moment.
The Museum. A simple gown in silk for an evening affair with black shoes or geometric pattern print silk high heels. Then a satin dress white dress with a flat ballet style shoe with a pony tail is another way to go  especially if it is more early in the evening.
The Event. The event from a music one or a simple party, you can play around more with the pattern of the little white dress. A short tea length dress with silk shoes and statement big necklace piece.
A white dress with a more draped bottom with a strappy shoe is another way to go out. To the party, we head in white dress with lace. A lace white or black boot with great hoop earrings keeps a balance between unique and simple.
The evening food affair. The evening food affair can many things from Emily Post to a place with a wooden post. So, a cocktail hour requires that most simple but elegant look. We put a white dress with off shoulder moment with a metallic heel. A linen dress works for a pool event or an event
in a more casual environment, a simple touch of a leather heel will do. The night time party food affair, you can find a white Marilyn Monroe inspired dress, for those more of a blush personality, you can get someone to sheer in the front of the dress. A strappy metallic high heel completes the look with wavy or curly hair.
So from casual to formal, a little white dress is a classic statement.

Summer time is a great time for summer white and gold. It has too many fashion applications for the look.
In the clothing box, there are several ways to wear gold. A gold sequin shirt with white shorts, and you are off to a night on the town. A white dress with gold shoes goes from the work place to the date. A gold shirt with white trousers is a classic look for all places.
Then there are accessories. A gold big hoop is always summer time ready. A great fashion gold ring is great when you have a formal moment. A white jumper with gold cuffs is a sophiscted moment. A gold toe ring is fun around the pool. A gold headband is great for the best house party with a white

Plato's Closet

So I had a shoe mishap without glue. My shoe fell apart as I was heading to grab something for promotional event at a preschool program. I had less than a hour and less  than thirty dollars to make something happen.

Off to Plato's Closet, it had a sale. Thank God. Three minutes later. I shop very fast. It comes with being a mother. I had three selections in my hand for under twenty dollars. Then yeah, yeah. I had a super cute shoe for five dollars. Yes, read it again. Five dollars.

This is a great place. It always saves my behind. It has great youthful fashion from shoes, clothes, and creative accessories. A Steve Madden shoe can be ten dollars which  in the retail world of one hundred bucks. So, instead one thing. You have many things. It is always a great shopping experience as you bop your head to the beats with a really nice and helpful staff.

This week. You can really hit the fashion lottery. Two dollar shorts with one dollar tops. Yes, the price of burger and fries, you can walk super fine with a cute heel with additional dollars.

On the other side of the fence, fall time is coming. Do you have clothes to sell? This is the place. For cash or for store credit, bring back your things. Then you can continue the madness of shopping therapy.

Fourth of July Fashions

So last week I took a looked and reviewed the fashion looks online for this holiday. Clearly, I think this holiday is suppose to be fun but some of us are trying too hard. Fourth of July is about the basics.  I think a review of it will be helpful for some of us fashion lovers. Basic pieces meet personal touches is the key for Fourth of July fashions.
The picnic. The picnic is normally family friendly fashions. No need to flash grandmother sitting at the table. So denim shorts with a sleeveless shirt is one look. A pair of jeans with a basic t shirt is another look with a flat shoe.
The BBQ. It depends on the BBQ. A formal BBQ can be a simple sundress with a basic pump for a woman and a simple but elegant seersucker for a male. A southern BBQ is normally in khaki pants or short with a crisp shirt. An informal BBQ holiday is fun cut off shorts with a t shirt in good taste.
The beach. Swimsuit. Swimsuit with coverup or simple shorts. I like nautical or USA colors. A wedge or flip flop completes the look with a straw hat. Male, swim suit with a comfortable slip on shoe.
The club. To go from the picnic to club is the norm in Metro Atlanta. Nighttime look. A great color block dress with a scrappy heel to view the fireworks. A wide leg white pant and shirt with a great t strap heel  for a terrace moment. A sequin skirt and fun but dresses tshirt for dance floor.
Novelty looks. Cool expressions,flags,or things that glow. A little goes a long way. The older you are, the less you should do. A jean with USA flag top is fine. A denim romper with I love this country long socks is fun for the day.
So from the park to a great party, get the look.

The Swimsuit

Unlike many women across the country, I am ill prepared to wear a bathing suit. Christmas chocolate came to bring a pastry of New Year Eve which later became many cold nights of comfort food. Well, that is my story, I am sticking to it. So did all these calories on my behind.
So it is July. A few pool parties avoided with the excuse of a busy summer schedule. Yeah!! I have to work.
So thankfully I see there some options for me. Can you say textured ab section. I also did not complete my ab work. So I danced my way through the cold months without a real work out.
A bikini with a belly is not sin in hotlanta because it is home of the big girl sexy. You can actually wear a two piece as large as a size 18. I personally would not but, if, you have the confidence, I guess work it out.
There are many options as well. A one piece can be a blessing or curse. A simple suit  without Lycra is made for the perfect body like Barbie. If not, Lycra it is. Then there the swim skirt to hide your hips. A tube of fabric if your breasts are small. A pattern with solid sides can also give you a better tummy look. Boy shorts  is a little more coverage and it is great when you do not have enough back there or the best shape behind. The swim dress is great because there is one for every body type.
You are brave. The bikini. So it is made for the best body. So if you are not there, welcome to the world of the tankini. Two pieces of fabric, it will give you more choices.

T Shirt

The basic unit of fashion is the t shirt. It is the go to item in any fashion closet especially summer. Depending the event or mood, this is the consideration of the t shirt fashion decision. So from a dressy evening to a park moment,there are many creative ideas for t shirt fashion.

It is Monday. The shirt is basic. With a dress slacks and a light jacket, the look can head to the office. A quick dress change after the work, we leave in jeans and a pair of casual loafers. So from morning to night, one t shirt goes a long way,

The white shirt is a must. A white t shirt does not look like much in the drawer or hanger. It is a cool moment with a colorful skirt for the daytime look. A sequin short can make the white shirt Oscar worthy. A pair cut off shorts, a white shirt gives a worn look a fresh fashion view. 

A night out on the town. Creativity is the key. A long t shirt with a beaded belt is a cool place in the evening. A bit of glitter and a cool expression,you are ready for a great club or party. The bling bling and a club with dark pants or jeans, you may be a walking party.

So stock up. It may be humble thing, a t shirt. With a little creativity and sense of fashion, the ordinary becomes extraordinary.

Faux Bling

You can fake it while you make it. For me you can always fake it because you love to save it. Either way you have options.
Where do you wear it? It depends on how real it looks. Plastic like pieces I only wear inside the home. I have a piece the mimics of a piece seen on the Titanic movie but it is only worn inside. I have other metal pieces that I wear to church or to a bar. On Easter I wore huge antique looking ring that made from glass. A bead and glass ring is another favorite I have that wear with a simple black dress.
Where do you get it? I buy everywhere. Clearly I am not fashion snob. So thrift is great for interesting pieces. A beauty supply store have simple things. Lenox Square Mall is the place for estate looking things you can wear at a formal event.
How much does it cost? Very little. From downtown Atlanta, it may cost little as two dollars. The mall starts at ten dollars and up to one hundred dollars. The beauty supply store which has lot of faux bling bling may cost as little as a dollar but high as twenty dollars.
So anytime you need a great piece,you can always mimic and save the money for a great event...

Short shorts

I love short shorts. In my lifetime without telling my age, I have worn too many pairs of them. In the city where a girl who is not a size two can dress sexy. I am grateful for them.
In the club or sport bar, a dressy pair becomes like the little black dress with a basic satin or dressy pump. A basic shirt with stud earrings completes your fashion look.
The good girl sexy. Welcome to the south. A pair of cut off shorts with a male plaid shirt with a flat sneaker. A white t shirt with a cut off with high heel sandal, a tank with a pair with a flip flop is an easy day with my child. Accessories kept in the basic fashion box, a simple stud or small hoop.
In the closet of white, a short short, is always summer. It is paired with silk aqua tank. A matching jacket with a pop of color for a more conservative look. A gold shirt with a white short and a gold high heel is quite regal.
In the edge of being too sexy, you can go there. Lace material that whispers bedroom thoughts.Sporty materials on the side. A little rock n roll with sneaker laces on the side of a short when you are having a bolder day.
So from the pool to a conservative gathering, a short short can take you many places for summer season.

Summer Fashion

Summer fashion on the street look is easy conservative looks with a great shoe. Nails and hair seem to be the fashion investment with a great purse.

My own personal fashion is the weekly and weekend fashion show. Something I do normally during the summer for fun. Animal print mixed with blacks is the main theme in my closet. So a printed Campri pant on Sunday with a black dress with animal print shoe on Monday. A tea length skirt with a beaded animal print on Friday ends the week with a mini bottle wine in my hand. Off to church in a animal print off shoulder dress with a red Nine West like shoe. To chill on Sunday, a black short romper. A sequin dress with a great piece of jewelry, I go to bed on Sunday. Well, that is my story.

The overall fashion story for the summer is not that diffcult. A khaki short and pant for a conservative evening. A basic round shade for most days. A couple of two piece bathing suits that you can mix and match all summer long.A rainbow of t shirts and tanks is an essential basic. Sandal,high heel sandal,flat tennis shoes,wedge, and a flip flop covers all days of an easy summer. A touch of color in the form of lip gloss completes the season. 

After five fashion,it depends on your event. A basic sundress is great for the casual. A pretty linen white dress in a great fashion goes from casual to dressy. A crisp white dress is casual for the bbq but with pearls and a great skirt is a different look.A fun sequin shirt, t shirt material with dark jean is a great summer party look.

A summer hat should not be forgotten.

Accessories, simple is best. Pieces made from wood carries you through the season. A simple charm piece can be worn with most things. Aqua,orange and light pink color beads in interesting designs is a  great summer look. A summer tote in a blue,pink, and white will carry you through the season. A small satin gold clutch is wonderful as well.

So, this is the summer of the things I think will be great for your fashion season.

Just Fab

I have very few clothes but a small hallway closet of shoes. I loves shoes. I can recall my first pair of high heel shoes. I was a speaker at a small moment and was asked to speak. So there seem to be a moment with a little shoe story in my life.
Off to online,you arrive at Just Fab with the click of the mouse. There are too many choices for you. The q and a to click on the site is brief yet personal. It makes you feel like someone cares what is on your feet. Refreshing. So once I answered a few questions, I was off to a great online window shopping experience.
From classic pumps to creative concepts, there is a shoe for all your moments. You have designer designs without the price. The shoes are under $100. The first one is ten dollars.

Tresures

So it is Mother's Day this weekend..

I went to Treasures which is thrift shop located in Lithonia Georgia on Main Street.

When you go in, you get a warm greeting and smile. You enter the feel of a casual but organized walk in closet. You feel like a girl in a great closet with clothes and accessories. From the things that you can buy from Macys or a Coach purse, you find great things to wear under $50 dollars. I had very few fashion dollars this weekend.

So I look around.

I find shoes.

How much?

Two dollars. Yes, two dollars. The shoesretail for over $40 and to find them for $2 made my fashion day.I, with the largest smile, held my precious shoes. They were  black cute strappy ones that can you can dress down with jeans or dress up in the evening. In Metro Atlanta, you never know what you may discover that day. A dress change may be needed. A fact I always consider when I buy things.

I left the store with a warmer greeting and a come back to see me which she knows I am addicted and I will.

Bare Feeet..

Barefoot...is the store...The place is the Underground Atlanta, Georgia.

I went in there Friday. The music was bumping and the shoes are there. They are high high heels. Only the big girls need apply to wear these shoes. I was on the journey for a pair of gold ones.

I could not find them. I looked around. I have only so much little closet space. A hallway closet that now holds my shoes. So, I decided to find look for a pair of red shoes. I wish I could say they would sensible ones but no way. So bobbing my head to the music among mostly young people, I go on a new journey. I find several. One with beads on the front. There is one with the Amercian flag. I thought this shoe would be great for the 4th of July but not at this moment. A painting on a little shoe but not needed with my spring fashion. I only fill up half of my closet. Then I start over.

A plain but high heel red shoe. To my delight and surprise the shoe is comfortable. Someone actually love my feet and made me a high heel shoe. A red shoe that reminded me of a shiny Nine West moment but for the fraction of the cost. It was $6.95. Yes.

So with a big wide smile, a fashion mom walks out the door as the radio is bumping another song. It is off to another fashion adventure next week...

The Mall Fashion Show

Saturday I went to the Simon Mall at Lenox Square fashion show.

So I went into the building wearing a gold club shirt and a interesting black skirt. I was influenced by the 1770s outfit, so I attended this event in costume. Did I get some looks? Yes. I thought it made the day fun.

So anyway,  they had a great set up. Leather seating, stage, and small closets of clothing according to theme, they, who were interested in love sat and soaked in the trends for season for a great date look.
The models, less than 10, came out, in two's, they were wearing the various themes they had set. Strappy high heel shoes with casual dresses and preppy wear for the women was the mode for the
stage. Clean cut almost 1950s meet the 1980s with a touch of the 1990s for the guys for the day with their girl was the overall look here.

Yes, you can tell I wore a lot of clothing for me to know my fashion history so well. I have.

After the show, you were allowed to get an expert from a fashion blogger to stylist from Glamour or GQ magazine. I was a kid in the fashion candy shop as I looked at each closet. They looked at my costume with prayer. I smiled.  From Boho Chic(my favorite) to a casual formal look with a touch of staycation theme, each expert gave you advice about the theme and asked about your own fashion sense.

Despite the fact I can barely spell date and have not been on date for many years. I still enjoyed the moment. After all, I still can wear these themes as a single who person who works a lot.

My Fashion History

I was always a girly tom boy with interesting fashion looks.
As a little girl my inspiration was pop stars. So fingerless gloves with skirt, then I am off to school. A little yellow tiered dress with white Ked on the playground. On the weekend, I would wear a pool inflatable with leggings and hair bows on my tennis shoes. Clearly, I had open minded parents who allowed me to express myself. Thankfully, there wasn't a school uniform.
In middle school I went rock. MTV, it was on a Saturday night with the head bangers. At the registry I begged for a pair of faded jeans and wore them off and on for a months. So tight jeans with crop shirts and basketball tennis shoes. A little bit of rock mixed with more hip hop. So it was pink jumper with tennis shoes and a cap.
High school, my personality became more conservative. So, Elizabeth, the Queen of England meets Boyz to Men. Jeans with jackets and loafers on Monday. At church, a dress suit with a sensible shoe.
 The sexy came back by the time I was 18. Short skirt and high heel shoes as I left the halls of high school. By the following spring, a pair of black daisy dukes laced on the side with a tight shirt. A little mini skirt during the next year of college to the point I had a raised eyebrow of a female professor. Very little clothing with three inch heels.

Macys black dresses.
I was bored.
My child was born.
He said to change it.
I did.
I went to the exploration of fashion. I love it. I mostly explore during the weekend after all I am over 40. I do not think laced up short shorts will go well at a business networking event. So, Friday evening, it is. I explore through pop culture, fashion history, and runway looks, adding my own touches. It keeps me from being bored, allows me to completely to change my personality. I can be artistic and experimental as an adult.
So, my fashion look....honestly, it is more conservative than you think but I do know to color outside of the lines.
As we go along, I hope to introduce you to that crayon box.
